CREATIVE WRITING
suitable for year 3 and upwards how
to read, write and perform poetry, or, perhaps develop
certain aspects of storywriting, or playwriting, whatever
you feel is appropriate for your needs.
In a class one day, a pupil was clearly being bullied. After a brief chat, this
was written by the victim. It deserves its place at the head of this page.

Working with mental health sufferers in the Staffordshire Moorlands, I ran a
series of workshops from which they wrote poems highlighting certain aspects of their condition. I created this River of Words
using their poetry. It needs patience to read it properly, a quality most people lack when dealing with sufferers.
It's now on public display in Leek Library, Staffs Moorlands.
TWO WORDS
Pushed. Pulled.
Happy. Sad.
Chilled. Frantic.
Lost. Found.
Calm. Angry.
Tears. Laughter.
Left. Right.
Right. Wrong.

DARE
I feel unhappy and confused.
All I do is get my feelings bruised.
I hate getting mad, feeling sad.
At every step, my pain is abused.
This unhappiness leaves me scared.
I’m not properly prepared.
My low self esteem
makes me want to scream.
I’d be different if I dared.
